Indoor s'more maker
I foresee needing one of these indoor s'more makers this winter. In a serious way. It's genius.

I need this
Wow, the IKEA Uppleva. I really want one of these. I am always obsessing over cords that are poking out/in the way/really unattractive. This thing was made for me.
And, I love that they included the remote flub in there.

How awesome is this? This megaphone could double as a cool decor piece that would transform a dinner party into a rockin' party. Sign me up!

Mad Men
Have you seen this? Banana Republic and Mad Men teaming up. I LOVE it!! BR clothes, Mad Men costuming genius. What a expert marketing stunt. I would like to wear this dress with these earrings and this ring; make myself a sidecar; and kick my feet up to watch the first episode of Mad Men on the 25th. Any takers?
Also, which MadMan are you?
Also, also, Bob would look so good in this. But, he'd never wear it.

A belly grows
This video makes my heart swell. It's perfect in every way. Will any of you, my dear, sweet creative friends, volunteer for this project when I'm pregnant? Please say, "I do."

Christmas in January
Check out this rad cooler that my dear friend Sara gave us. Not only is it Cubs, but it's a convertible backpack/rolling cooler with wheels. It's big enough to fit a lot of beverages and super handy. I can't wait for tailgating this year. I told Bob that he's going to be the coolest kid there. :)
Thanks, Sara-love!

Email Etiquette
You know them. Those who cram your inbox full of irrelevant information, ask the lengthy open-ended questions, or "cc" everyone in the office for no apparent reason. Poor email etiquette has been adopted by many, but there's a movement that is trying to put an end to that. Check out this Email Charter and sign up if you're in support. I'm going to follow rule number 10 this weekend and disconnect!

Move, Eat, Learn
How incredibly creative, beautiful, inspiring and amazing this video is. Wanderlust-ers beware - it is guaranteed to be travelbug inducing. Also, Eat (love!) and Learn.

Recycled Sunshine
Isn't this art installation rad? It's the work of the I.D.E.A. Store, a place where they collect everyday items often taken for granted and sell them inexpensively to people with big ideas. Take this project for example. The beautiful mural is constructed out of recycled billboard material woven through a fence that surrounds a construction site. I love the sunshine!

Reachemol
Driving around town I'd been seeing these billboards for what appeared to be a new pharmaceutical product. The ads all have the pharma looking logo, but weird tags lines like, "how else do you explain Justin Beiber?" I finally googled it and love what I found! Very clever.

Newsprint Nails
Love this idea for fashionable nails! I'm not big on finger nail polish, but I may be giving this a try this week.

Magic
The doodle on Google today for Harry Houdini's 137th Birthday reminded me of the time I got to do a magic trick with David Copperfield when I was 13. After random audience members called out items for me to spray paint on a fake brick wall on stage, Mr. Copperfield pulled a large sheet of paper out of a manila envelope - that had been in plain sight the entire time - that had (what appeared to be) exactly what I'd painted on the wall. My dad, Craig, says he knows how he did it, but to this day I can't figure it out.

Oscar-Noms: Shorts
Last night husband and I checked out the 2011 Oscar-Nominated Live Action Shorts. These rarely seen films (especially in our corner of the world) are often my favorite. I love seeing a story unfold and resolve itself in 30 minutes or less. This year's nominations are great! From a skilled dart thrower who finds himself turning into Cupid (God of Love) to the heart-breaking last wish of a dying young man (Wish 143), these films are worth seeing. Find them near you!
Enjoy Oscar night this Sunday!

Vince-piration
It's the eve of the greatest football game of the year and, while not a die-hard football fan myself, I stumbled upon some quotes from the legendary Vince Lombardi that I had to share. What a guy.
“Mental toughness is many things and rather difficult to explain. Its qualities are sacrifice and self-denial. Also, most importantly, it is combined with a perfectly disciplined will that refuses to give in. It’s a state of mind – you could call it ‘character in action.’”
“If you’ll not settle for anything less than your best, you will be amazed at what you can accomplish in your lives.”
“The good Lord gave you a body that can stand most anything. It’s your mind you have to convince.”
“Leadership is based on a spiritual quality --- the power to inspire, the power to inspire others to follow.”
“After all the cheers have died down and the stadium is empty, after the headlines have been written, and after you are back in the quiet of your room and the championship ring has been placed on the dresser and after all the pomp and fanfare have faded, the enduring thing that is left is the dedication to doing with our lives the very best we can to make the world a better place in which to live.”
I could go on and on quoting this guy...
Happy Super Bowl weekend!

Night Swimming
My awesome Uncle Scott (whom I just discovered reads my blog!) sent me a link today to these incredible photos. The most amazing thing about them? They were all taken in the dead of night. Long exposures can give you some pretty amazing results, as these are proof of. Makes me want to pick up my camera again and chase that dream of being a professional photographer!
Thanks for sharing Uncle Scott!

Brusha Brusha Brusha
How many of you actually change your toothbrush as often as your dentist recommends? I certainly don't. Mainly because I forget - unless I'm sick, then that thing is garbage.
This company is promoting oral health and environmental awareness one yogurt cup at a time. With a Toothbrush Subscription you can have a new toothbrush delivered to your door every few months. Once you're finished with one, send it back to them in a handy mail back pack and, get this, they will help recycle it turning it into new park benches, picnic tables and more. Recycled toothbrushes landscaping public spaces - I love it!
