Too funny!

Last week Bob and I were hanging out with some friends and they showed us these lip sync videos on You Tube.  This teenager lip syncs to random songs in his bedroom when he's bored.  He really gets into it and his facial expressions crack me up!  This one is my favorite.

Apparently this kid is a star now - 50 Cent even stars in one of his videos!

Downward-Facing Dog, a resting pose

I've been practicing yoga for almost 5 years now and, after a couple of brief hiatuses, I've really hit my stride.  My re-commitment over the past several months to a strong practice has me feeling more connected and more in tune with my mind and body than ever before.  I have more clarity of thought, more presence of mind and certainly more flexibility!
One major accomplishment in the last few months has been finding my Downward-Facing Dog (Adho Mukha Svanasana) to be restful.  Instructors always remind you that this pose should calm you and bring you to a point of focus while being able to rest.  Well, for a long time all I could focus on was keeping my elbows straight (and not wobbly), relaxing my head and neck and the dozens of other nuances of the pose.  More often than not that led me to be quite anxious in the pose.  Thankfully times have changed.
These days my down dog is looking better than ever and more importantly, I've found it to be an extremely restful pose.  I have been able to stop seeking perfection in this pose to the point of worry and am now happy to rest here for many breaths.  I am so thankful that my mind and my body have allowed me to get to this point and excited about the path of self-discovery that my practice paves the way for.

How awesome would it be to do one of these yoga retreats?!

Happy Sunday

Today is a good day!  Husband and I bought the finishing touches for our new bathroom including a vanity mirror and lighting.  I can't wait for the finished product!  While he enjoys some football with the guys I'm headed to see this movie.

I fell in love with the trailer and can't wait to see it.  I love Jake Gyllenhaal.  And, after that I'm taking a mini shopping excursion for some Christmas gifts and some holiday decor items.  I want to add some warmth and a festive feeling to our house.  Aren't these pretty?
Wish me luck! :)

Tis' the season

Our first Christmas tree is up!  Like many, this is my favorite time of year.  I love the music, the treats, spending time with family and friends and of course decorating.  Things are underway in my house and the first thing is the tree.  This little tree has followed me from place to place for many years and I love putting it up each year.
Winston is enjoying it, too.  I hope I can keep all of the ornaments in one piece!

Thank goodness for the dog park

Winston, our adorable puppy, has a bit of a wild side.  I suppose he takes after his parents in that respect.  When he gets one of his streaks and starts zipping through the house barking, there's no better place to take him than the dog park.  He could run for hours tumbling over his puppy paws and romping around with his puppy friends.  It's really fun to watch, but the best part is that he's asleep in the car moments after leaving.  It makes for a pretty peaceful rest of the day.

Dog park here we come!

Mmmmm...

It's lunch time and I'm starving!  Instead of figuring out what to eat I'm day dreaming about the delicious twice baked potato I will be eating about five hours from now.  We'll be celebrating my brother-in-law Matt's birthday with a delicious meal that will include one of these bad boys.

Oooey, gooey, cheesy potato goodness.  Twice baked potatoes rank in my Top 10 of favorite foods.  So, thanks Matt for having another birthday and choosing wisely for your birthday dinner.  My tummy appreciates it!

Living Lovely

I decided to create a blog to share the wonderful things that I experience from day to day.  My life is filled with so much love - from my family who is supportive beyond imagination to my my friends who have been through thick and thin and remained by my side for ages, from my positively adoring hunk of a husband to the puppy who lights up our days... I have more to be thankful for than I could possibly share in any tiny little blog.  But, I'll try.

For starters, one of the most love filled days of my life.  My wedding day.
