BIG Snowstorm

At least that's what they're saying... 10, 12, 1,439 inches, oh my!  Weather is all anybody is talking about right now.  It's so funny.  What's hilarious?
This:

I'll be making a pit-stop after yoga for some wine.  Have you stocked up yet?

Grey Skies

(via eeicenbice on Flickr)

I don't know about you, but I've had enough with the grey skies.  It's seems like an eternity since we've seen the sun.  So, this weekend I'm planning to bring a little light into my life with dinner and merrymaking with friends, some live music and some much needed sun salutations.  51 days until spring!

Night Swimming

My awesome Uncle Scott (whom I just discovered reads my blog!) sent me a link today to these incredible photos.  The most amazing thing about them?  They were all taken in the dead of night.  Long exposures can give you some pretty amazing results, as these are proof of.  Makes me want to pick up my camera again and chase that dream of being a professional photographer!
Thanks for sharing Uncle Scott!

Thanks, Richie...

... for your delicious turkey meatloaf recipe.  I made this tonight for me and my honey and it was great!
I had a real hankering this past week for a good meatloaf.  My mom used to make a wonderful meatloaf when I was a kid, but I don't think I'd had it since the age of 15.  And, frankly, the idea of making meatloaf has always freaked me out.  Raw meat, squished together forming a loaf that you then slice into.  Blech.  Then, while shopping for healthy dinner recipes I came across Richie's Turkey Meatloaf and decided to give it a try.  The lightness of the turkey lets the other flavors (onions, red pepper...) really come through.
I would highly recommend this to any carnivores.

Swoon-worthy Yoga Fashion

How adorable is this sweater? I would love to slip this on on my way to yoga or right before Savasana.  Also loving these pants, this wrap and this ensemble.

Black Swan

Have you seen Black Swan yet?  I've been dying to see it so I'm treating myself to a movie date this afternoon.  It's so cold out that a big snugly sweater, hot buttery popcorn and a great movie sound perfect!
Also, love the movie poster:

Home

This song entered my world awhile back and I've been smitten ever since.  Bob and I used it as the backdrop to our slide show of memories at our wedding reception and he even had a quote from it engraved in a gift to me.  "Home is whenever I'm with you" pretty much sums it up.  Doesn't this video just make your heart melt?

Six Lovely Months

Yesterday Bob and I celebrated six lovely months of wedded bliss.  And, being the spectacular husband that he is, he had a clean house, beautiful flowers and sweet card waiting for me when I got home.  What a special man he is.  Can't help feeling like the luckiest gal in the world...

Did Someone Say Chocolate Souffle?

Bob and I were recently treated to a delicious evening by our friends Mike and Kristin.  They always host fabulous get-togethers with pretty decor, fun atmosphere and spot-on hosting skills.  And, lucky for us they love to entertain by making the most scrumptious food.  On the menu most recently was tender steak with a tasty au jus, skin-on herb roasted potatoes, crisp asparagus, Caesar salad and... wait for it... chocolate souffle!
Now, if you're like me, Betty Crocker is your best bud when it comes to dessert time.  Not these guys.  They whipped up a made-from-scratch souffle that was rich, light, airy, delectable, melt in your mouth goodness.  The souffles were served in the perfect size little souffle dishes and topped off with a healthy dose of powdered sugar.  One bite and satisfied sighs resounded across the table.

Fantastic meal and fun times were had by all (even if we managed to creep ourselves out a bit with the new Kinect). :)  Thanks friends!

Thank You's

I'm a sucker for cute handmade cards.  I love the personal touch of a thank you card itself and cute designs like these are even better.  LOVE the skyline "Thank You" from the City of Brotherly Love.

New Brewery Coming

A new brewery is coming to C-U!  Destihl will be opening in Downtown Champaign (hopefully) in March.  I headed to Bloomington-Normal today with some of my co-workers to check out the original Destihl for lunch.  It was great!  While we didn't indulge in the brew selection (it was impressive!) the food was outstanding.  I had the portabello brie sandwich - yumm-o!  And, the Executive Chef, Manny, treated us to an array of desserts including a moist carrot cake, steamed baked apples a la mode and super soft bread pudding.

Champaign, we're in for a treat!

I Love You New Boots

My new snow boots made it here just in time for our snowstorm!  I think I'll take Winston for a walk in these this evening.  I heart these boots!  Thanks for the inspiration J.Crew.

Brusha Brusha Brusha

How many of you actually change your toothbrush as often as your dentist recommends?  I certainly don't.  Mainly because I forget - unless I'm sick, then that thing is garbage.
This company is promoting oral health and environmental awareness one yogurt cup at a time.  With a Toothbrush Subscription you can have a new toothbrush delivered to your door every few months.  Once you're finished with one, send it back to them in a handy mail back pack and, get this, they will help recycle it turning it into new park benches, picnic tables and more.  Recycled toothbrushes landscaping public spaces - I love it!

M is for Monday

I don't know about you, but this weekend was great!  Sometimes a great weekend leads to dreading Monday morning.  Back to work, too much to do, not enough time, stress...  Not this morning.  I woke up this morning and decided that today was going to be a good day - and, it is!

Happy Monday!

Happy Weekend!  This is the first weekend in awhile that I've had zip scheduled and I'm loving it!  Today was just productive enough to not feel lazy and just lazy enough to be super relaxing.  Aaaahhh....
Tonight Bob and I were invited to join my parents-in-law for a real German dinner at Bayern Stube restaurant.  I'm so excited -  I've been dying to try this place for years!  It's one of our little East Central Illinois gems.

Check out the stuffed heads on the walls... awesome!

There's so much deliciousness to choose from, but I think I might try the Schweinebraten and a treat myself to a Spaten.  The last time I ate real German food was in Munich* a few years ago, so this will be quite a treat! Bob is especially looking forward to...
... the sausage.

Enjoy your evening and Mahlzeit!

*remind me to blog about my solo backpacking trip through Europe sometime!

Feeling Crappy

I'm taking a break from posting until I feel better.  It feels like I've been sick forever now.  Right after I kick a month-long head cold/sinus infection/upper respiratory nastiness I come down with stomach pains, the chills and body aches.  Seriously 2011, not a good way to start the year?  Anyway, I'm trying to get all the rest I can squeeze in, so I'll be back when I shake this.

Here's a pretty picture as we wait for warmer weather...
Camping is one of me and Bob's favorite summer activities with our friends.  How awesome would it be to go camping someplace like this?!  It's on our list...

xoxo, Libby

Chopping Onions Always Makes Me Cry

Check this out: Apparently a piece of bread in the mouth is supposed to keep you from crying when chopping onions.  I should've tried this during the holidays when I chopped a bunch of onions.  Tears were streaming down my face!  Perhaps I'll give it a go tonight.  I'm making chicken fajitas with an avocado dip and a Greek yogurt sauce.  Yumm-o!   (I'll share a picture later.)
